We all wish there were more hours in the day. The lists add up and things never seem to get done. Cleaning and other mindless tasks shouldn’t take up the majority of your day! It’s time to change that! Tidying up takes time, but we are here to help you make that time shrink.
Don’t let stuff pile up.
Whether it’s dirty dishes or laundry, don’t let such items pile into a stressful mess. Take time after each meal to clean those dirty dishes. That way, you won’t have to think about them the next morning as you are rushing out the door. The same is true with your laundry. Throw a load in whenever you see more than enough items in that pile. You’ll be happy with your clothes being clean all the time — trust me!
Set a timer.
As a reminder: you don’t have to clean the whole house in one day! Spread these tasks out throughout the day or even week. It’s wise to set a timer for 20 minutes or so. Once the timer dings, you are free to do more enjoyable things with your time. Yay!
Start with the easy tidying.
Simple, brainless chores are the easiest. Go on autopilot and get the job done! The tasks that take more careful consideration should not be rushed. We all know how important it is to take your time. But the other stuff? Power through to completion.
Throw that away!
It’s hard to part with furniture and clothing that have been dear to your heart for all these years. But tidying up does give the connotation of throwing things away. If you don’t love it, pitch it. The more stuff that piles up, the more you’ll have to tidy later. Remember, this is all about cleaning up in less time after all! Make some snap decisions and move on.
