Throwing parties is fun. Cleaning up is not. In fact, it is so not fun that it stops many people from every throwing a soiree. Here are a few simple strategies to keep you focused on the fun.
Start with a Clean Slate
If you’re piling dirty dishes on top of more dirty dishes you’re creating a recipe for a long night of cleaning. Start the night by emptying your dishwasher and cleaning up all the pre-party prep work before the festivities begin. A spotless home will impress your guests, and make cleaning up after them that much easier.
Small and Savory
Finger foods are perfect for crumb-free noshing. Super cute bite-size snacks also mean you won't have to deal with the usual dips-and-spreads mess. Classics include miniature sliders, and Caprese-on-a-stick as you skewer mozzarella, tomato, and basil.
Post-Party Water Rings
Oops!—an errant glass! Quick! Take care of that water ring on a wood table. Try rubbing a dab of non-gel toothpaste onto the ring, and buff with a clean cloth. You can also substitute full-fat mayonnaise for the toothpaste; just let it sit an hour, then wipe clean and buff.
You Earned This!
Sore Feet after a successful party? Make yourself a rejuvenating Ginger Foot Bath: Simmer 1 tablespoon of dried ginger in 4 cups of water for 20 minutes. Cool, then soak feet in it for 10 to 15 minutes.
